I was born further in the past than other people my age. I grew up with a typewriter when the personal computer became commonplace. Cordless phones were very popular outside my household where bakelite rotary phones remained. When we finally got an answering machine, it was rigged up from a reel-to-reel recorder.
I don’t know when I became fascinated by science fiction and fantasy, but my uncle worked for the Science Fiction Book Club, and used me for his overflow. My mother fleeced me for books before every family event.
Sometimes, I wonder where my love of contrast comes from before remembering that my father was a magician, and I spent a lot of time in an attic sitting next to a guillotine and reading MAD magazines.
Later, I was given a university degree and, after that, some jobs.
I am currently alive, and live on Earth with you.
